  • Rescue Pony Auctioned for a Pretty Penny, Writer and Photographer.  published on Animal News Northwest. This story was used by state legislator Rep. Michelle Caldier to change the laws for rescued animals in Washington state (House bill 2500). It also won first place won a first place writing award in the daily print and online small publication category for short feature story in the Excellence in Journalism awards.
  • Animal rescue nonprofit fights tax ruling on pet adoptions,  Writer and Photographer. Published on Animal News Northwest. After this story ran, the Washington state Department of Revenue agreed to meet with non-profit animal rescue organizations and reversed their decision to apply retail tax on adoption fees, and only apply it to retail products such as leashes and food. This story was awarded a second place award in government and politics reporting by the Society of Professional Journalists Western Washington Pro Chapter.
  • An Extraordinary Time is a photo column I produced once a week from 2005-2006. It originally ran in the The Seattle Post-Intelligencer under the heading “Seattle Perspectives”. Now it is managed independently online and the site is under redesign to accompany a work in progress illustrating the Bill Of Rights and the issues surrounding it.
