Pat and Bob McCauley, self-quarantined at their home in Kirkland, Wash. can see the red flashing lights of the medics that come and go from the Life Care Center from their window on March 10, 2020. Their good friend, a Life Care resident, died on Sunday of COVID-19. They are mourning him, and anxiously waiting for the results of their COVID-19 tests. They must wear masks when they around each other. Otherwise they need to stay in separate bedrooms and bathrooms in the house. (photo by Karen Ducey for the LA Times)
