Junior Renteria, one years old, celebrates Mexican Independence Day with his family at St. Patricks Church on September 15th. He moved here from Los Angeles with his whole family 3 years ago seeking a better quality of life. “We now have a new house, new cars, and I am able to stay home and take care of the kids.” says his mother Isaura Renteria. This is the first time Mexican Independence Day was celebrated in Indianapolis. It will be an annual event from now on. A representative from the mayor’s office was there to give the community a proclamation which acknowledges the Mexican community here as being an economic liable entity and part of the social fabric of the city.
